TOURISM AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Tourism has an important relation with the climate.
As climate changes, the probabilities of certain types of weather events are affected.
The strong seasonality of beach tourism can be exacerbated by climate change. In many beach destinations the high tourist season coincides with low water regimes in dry seasons, aggravating water management and environmental issues.
The impacts of climate change and global warming will vary greatly in the different coastal regions. In Polar regions, there will be reductions in glacier extent and the thickness of glaciers.
Today we must promote a form of tourism which respects ecology system and the environment. We must use modern technological innovations to reduce the impact of climate change.

  1. Dear Frederic, I am also concerned and interested in this kind of subjects. After reading your comments and watching the video.

I came out with some points.

    - The first point is the fact that Tourism does affect the weather, or any human activity. To which technology, education and sustainability are important words.
    - Secondly the fact that we all have to be more responsible in picking our destination. Even to the point of looking to what the tourist destinations are doing in order to protect their ecosystem, and how do the government is educating their people.
    - The third as you we have to play with technology, not only using this to reduce the effect in climate change and cost, but also to educate people so they can be more concern and aware of the future changes that this video present us.

Finally I feel also concern of was is happing in Everest, or Kenya National Park, or with the Poles. As we all be affected if we do not do anything. So lets be concern and look at our destinations before choosing one.
